It’s said that they do everything bigger in Texas, and 31-year-old Charles “Chalie Boy” Williams knew this well when he tipped the scales at 315 pounds. Despite his growth in music, Chalie Boy wasn’t content with his oversized frame, and in January 2010 he decided to give his lifestyle a makeover. While his confidence and rap persona stayed larger than life, Chali’s physical form has dropped an impressive 100 pounds.

In his latest video “Deja Blu,” Chalie Boy shows off his hard work in the gym as much as he showcases his work in the studio. In a recent chat with UrbLife.com, Chalie gave us some insight on why losing weight means so much to his life and his music career. Read on as the Texas native breaks down his new figure-friendly routine!

When you weighed in at over 300 pounds, were you facing any serious health concerns?

Chalie Boy: No, not really, the doctor never diagnosed anything life-threatening. Of course, it’s no secret that being overweight is unhealthy, so I knew I had to do something about it. At that weight, I knew I had a risk of diabetes and other issues that come with being overweight. I just had to take it upon myself to do better and live a healthier life.

Aside from the health risks of obesity, did you experience discrimination or other problems associated with your weight?

CB: I never noticed anything in my day to day life. Family and friends always treated me the same and my fans always show me love wherever I go. I’m sure there were some, but I was never aware of any discrimination.

What were the very first steps you took in seeking a weight loss solution?

CB: The first thing I did was begin to exercise more, along with adjusting my eating habits. I had to figure out what worked best for me. I began by walking on a daily basis and cutting back on unhealthy foods, such as sweets, fried foods and juices.

What does your new day-to-day eating plan consist of, and how does it differ from your old ways of eating?

CB: Well in the past, I ate lots of greasy foods, mostly fast foods. Now I eat fruits and vegetables, along with grilled meats. I cut out a lot of the sugar and fats. I also drink a lot more water. I have created a schedule to eat on instead of impulse eating.

How supportive have your family, friends and associates been during your life change?

CB: My family has been very supportive. They know the importance of being healthy and how important it was that improve that area of my life. And, of course they want me to live a longer life. They are very proud of me, considering the hard work I have put into this, as well as my career.

How much exercise do you get in each week, and what are your favorite activities to stay fit?

CB: I work out at least 12 hours a week, which includes my daily exercises, as well as my workouts. My favorite activity to stay fit would have to be playing basketball, because it doesn’t seem like like exercise, it’s just fun.

Can you give us a basic rundown of your daily diet and fitness regimen as it is now?

CB: A bowl of oatmeal, apple and orange for breakfast. Grilled chicken and mixed vegetables for lunch. Fruit for a daily snack. A salad for dinner along with fruit for dinner or something grilled for dinner. On average, I have at least six different meals a day with a high intake of water.

For my fitness regimen, I do 100 pushups, 100 squats and 100 jumping jacks daily, for my personal exercise. I also have two-hour workout sessions with my personal trainer five days a week.

Do you intend on losing more weight, and if so, what is your ultimate goal?

CB: Yeah, I would like to lose about 15- 20 more pounds and continue to build muscle and tone up my body. My ultimate goal is roughly 200 pounds.

Do you see yourself helping or advising others with their weight loss challenges? Or do you see yourself venturing out into other things like writing a book, doing a workout video, etc.?

CB: I honestly didn’t go into it thinking about that, but if there is anything I can do or say to help guide people to be healthier, I would happily do it. I didn’t really get into this to make profit or get publicity, but if me losing weight can help motivate somebody, that’s a positive thing. As of right now, I am just so happy with people understand and seeing the difference in being healthier.

How has your new physique helped you in your music career? What should people expect to see from you in the next few months?

CB: Well with such a dramatic drop in weight, everywhere I go, my fans mention it. It feels good for my hard work to be noticed. I’m more energetic, I rest better, and all of that helps with my career. Overall, it’s been a really positive experience.
